Significance of Makar Sankranti
Makar Sankranti is a Hindu festival that marks the transition of the sun into the zodiac sign of Makara (Capricorn) on its celestial path. It is celebrated on the 14th of January every year and marks the beginning of the harvest season in India. The festival holds significant cultural, religious and agricultural importance in India.
It is considered as an auspicious day, celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. People take a dip in holy rivers, offer prayers to the sun god, and fly kites to celebrate. In Hindu religion, Makar Sankranti is celebrated as a festival of thanksgiving for the good harvest.
It is a day of unity and brotherhood, people visit friends and relatives, exchange sweets and greetings, and forget old grudges to start afresh. It is also a day of new beginnings, forgiveness and renewal of relationships.
It also a day of Charity to get blessings from Lord.

One of the spiritual benefits of donation, specifically Iskcon food donation, is that it helps to develop a sense of selflessness and compassion. By giving to others, we can detach ourselves from material possessions and focus on the greater good.
In Iskcon, the practice of food donation is known as “prasadam” and it is a way to connect with God through service. The food is first offered to God as a form of devotion and then distributed to others as a way to share God’s blessings. The act of sharing prasadam is believed to purify the mind and heart, and bring one closer to spiritual realization.
Another spiritual benefit of Iskcon food donation is that it helps to develop the quality of gratitude. By giving to others, we can learn to appreciate the blessings in our own life and be grateful for what we have.
In summary, Iskcon food donation is a spiritual practice that teaches selflessness, compassion, devotion and gratitude. It is a way to connect with God and purify the mind, while also serving the community.
ISKCON’s Kitchens in
During the pandemic, ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) has been actively involved in food distribution to those in need. We have set up food distribution centers across the globe to provide meals to those who are struggling financially due to the pandemic.
In India, ISKCON has been running community kitchens to feed the poor, homeless and daily wage earners who have been affected by the pandemic. We have also been providing food packages and essentials to families in need.
In other countries, ISKCON has been partnering with local organizations and charities to provide food assistance to those affected by the pandemic. We have been distributing food packages, cooking and distributing hot meals, and providing food vouchers to those in need.
ISKCON’s food distribution efforts during the pandemic have been a way to help alleviate poverty and hunger, and to provide support to those who are struggling financially. It is also a way to connect with God through service and to purify the mind and heart.
